Explanation:

North American settlements was really popular across Europe. Many immigrants came in with the hope of getting new economic opportunities to improve their livelihood.

But, it is hard for the environment to properly accommodate this sudden large influx in population.  A lot of trees were being chopped down to create housing, tools, and transportations carriages. As a result, it is became difficult to preserve the timber in North America.

On top of that, The British government who held control over the North American colonies often take large amount of woods for their military's (to create ships for their royal navy)
