Compare and contrast the strategies used in the worked example. When would it make sense to use Strategy 2? Strategy 1:
8 ( x + 6 ) = 16
8x + 48 = 16
8x = -32
x = -4

Strategy 2:
( 8 ( x + 6 ) ) / 8 = 16 / 8
x + 6 = 2
x = -4

Note: Please explain how the strategies work too. The strategies aren't explained in the book on how to solve equations using distributive property, and I can't understand how it works at all! If you do understand the steps in the strategies, please help!
