England blamed the colonies for the war and demanded that they pay for the expenses that came with the war. The initial way to pay was through taxes on various items that were imported to the North American colonies. Many of these were often met with protests and boycotts. England would roll back the law or tax and replace it with something different. Everything changed after the Boston Massacre. Violence had been increasing and the anger left after Massacre combined with the Tea Act. Tensions boiled over and resulted in the famous Boston Tea Party. This led to the Coercive Acts (also known as the Intolerable Acts to the colonists). Every attempt to recoup money led to a reaction by the colonists that usually was a more violent response. These in turn led to more severe consequences from the British. It was a vicious cycle until the colonists felt they had only one option left: Independence.

in a bigger picture, napoleon had some huge achievements in france which made him very important, but the fact that he seized power to himself makes him an undeniable traitor to the revolution since the main idea of it was to remove people from power and give power to the people.
