Election Time

It’s once again election time in Evergreen, Alabama! There are two candidates who are campaigning in a big way to land the job of city councilman. Both have been very active in city government in the past.

Jack Snow is once again running for a seat on Evergreen’s city council. Jack’s campaign slogan is “For government pure as SNOW, elect Jack!” In his speeches at town meetings, he has promised to keep the city tax at its present rate. He is also running on his record of helping schools by continuing to organize volunteers for the afternoon tutoring program. Mr. Snow hasn’t forgotten the sports fans! He has stated that he will fight to complete the new stadium. Construction on the stadium was stopped a few months ago because there was no money in the town treasury. It looks like Jack Snow is offering the people of Evergreen more of the same service that he has given in the past!

Tom Oaks is Jack Snow’s opponent in the city council race. Though Mr. Oaks has never held public office, he insists that his honesty and success in the business world will put Evergreen on the map! His campaign slogan is “Don’t fall for a Snow job! Elect Tom Oaks for a stronger Evergreen!” Tom has been very successful in opening and operating the Buy More Lumber store. Known for his commitment to helping disadvantaged families find safe housing, he started the community effort for citizens to donate lumber and time to build three shelters for the homeless. He was the first contributor to the program!

All in all, it looks like it’s going to be an extremely close race for the city council. Be sure to vote next Tuesday!
