Three Shelby tube samples (obtained by drilling in situ) were retrieved from an offshore drilling from depths of 16.4 ft, 49.2 ft, and 65.6 ft below the surface of the soil (mudline). The water content of these samples was found to be 30%. The previous geotechnical investigation carried out at this site indicated that specific gravity of these soils is equal to 2.7. You perform UU (unconsolidated undrained) tests on these three specimens using the same cell pressure of 43.54 psi. The undrained shear strengths of these specimens were found to be equal to 1.7 psi, 5.95 psi and 7.98 psi respectively. Calculate the average undrained strength/vertical effective stress in field (Cu/σ’) for these three samples.
