A Carnot engine employs 1.5 mol of nitrogen gas as a working substance, which is considered as an ideal diatomic gas with γ = 7/5 at the working temperatures of the engine. The Carnot cycle goes in the cycle ABCDA with AB being an isothermal expansion. The volume at points A and C of the cycle are 5.0 x 10-3 m3 and 0.15 m3, respectively. The engine operates between two thermal baths of temperature 500 K and 300 K. (a) Find the values of volume at B and D. (b) How much heat is absorbed by the gas in the AB isothermal expansion? (c) How much work is done by the gas in the AB isothermal expansion? (d) How much heat is given up by the gas in the CD isothermal expansion? (e) How much work is done by the gas in the CD isothermal compression? (f) How much work is done by the gas in the BC adiabatic expansion? (g) How much work is done by the gas in the DA adiabatic compression? (h) Find the value of efficiency of the engine based on the net work and heat input. Compare this value to the efficiency of a Carnot engine based on the temperatures of the two baths.

Salicylic acid is a very important acid. it is used to synthesize the aspirin by treating with acetic anhydride. a 0.2015-g sample of salicylic acid was dissolved in a 100.00-ml volumetric flask, and the solution was diluted to the mark. a 10-ml aliquot of this solution was titrated with standard naoh (0.01130 + 0.2% n) to a phenolphthalein faint pink color end point at 19.81 ml. (a) (calculate the normality of the salicylic acid solution used in the titration. (b) assuming the salicylic acid is pure, what is the equivalent weight of the salicylic acid? practice problems for the final exam (continued) (c) (calculate the inherent error in the determination of the equivalent weight you calculated in part (b). use the following absolute errors in the equipment /glassware when calculating the inherent error. 5.00-ml pipet: + 0.02 ml 100-ml volumetric flask: + 0.08 ml analytical balance: + 0.2 mg 25-ml buret: + 0.03 ml

Which explanation is true about what happens to a ray of light when it strikes a mirror? a. a light ray is transmitted toward a mirror at a certain angle. the light ray is then reflected by the mirror at an equal angle but in the opposite direction of the transmitted ray. b. an incident ray strikes a mirror at an angle with a line perpendicular to the mirror. the light ray is then reflected at an angle equal to the angle of incidence but on the opposite side of the perpendicular line. c. a reflecting ray strikes a mirror at an angle with a line perpendicular to the mirror. the light ray is then refracted at an angle equal to the angle of the reflecting ray and on the same side of the perpendicular line. d. an incident ray strikes a mirror at an angle with a line parallel to the mirror. the light ray is then transmitted at an angle equal to the angle of incidence but on the opposite side of the parallel line. you so much! : -d take the time to try and answer correctly.
