Alkalosis is the term for an increase of pH of the blood caused by an excess of base. If the normal pH of
blood is 7.40 and a pH of 8.40 is diagnosed as
alkalosis, compare the hydronium ion (H, 0+)
concentration in normal blood to that of a person's
blood with alkalosis.
