Why are certain amino acids called essential amino acids?

Some of the amino acids are called essential amino acids because they are not synthesized in the body of human beings.

Explanation:

The amino acids are very vital for the body as it is the building blocks of the body. It forms protein which helps in the movement of the molecules across body.

There are 20 amino acids in total. Out of which our body synthesizes 10 amino acids by itself. The amino acid that is synthesized in the body is non-essential because they are already present in the body.

The amino acids that is not made in body has to be taken from outside by the food that we eat.
