Betray, destroy, and obey do not need to be changed to add the suffix -ed, because the "y" at the end of each word is preceded by a vowel  (so  they would be spelled  "betrayed," "destroyed," and "obeyed").

but hurry is different; it has to  be spelled "hurried" because the "y" at the end of "hurry" is preceded by a consonant.

There are a lot of different ones. 

Eminem dropped out because he failed freshman year 3 times.
johnny depp dropped out to pursue his career as a rock star.
seth rogan dropped out because of his comedy career.
jim carey dropped out to support his family and to pursue acting.
ryan gosling dropped out to be on mickey mouse.
