Read this excerpt from a play.
(The scene opens on a park in summer time. Picnic blankets adorn the grass, and children are happily eating slices of watermelon as adults watch nonchalantly. Two adults sit on a bench with their eyes closed and their faces tilted upward.)
RINA: Did you pack the kids’ kites?
NATHAN: Yeah, they’re in the trunk, but I’m not sure I have the energy.
RINA: I know. It is so pleasant just relaxing. (She removes her shoes, stretches her legs, and closes her eyes again.)
NATHAN: I’m thinking I might grab a slice of watermelon. (He climbs down onto the blanket with the kids and makes himself comfortable.)
(The sound of the park fountain can be heard as the family relaxes. Then the sky darkens, and a loud splattering of rain begins to fall.)
NATHAN: (Startled) Where did this come from?
RINA: (Hopping to her feet) Let’s pack up! Kids, grab your toys.
