“Conversávamos, agora. Ela apreciava o casacão da noite. – “Cheiinhas!” – olhava as estrelas, deléveis, sobrehumanas. Chamava-as de “estrelinhas pia-pia”. Repetia: - “Tudo nascendo!” – essa sua exclamação dileta, em muitas ocasiões, com o deferir de um sorriso. E o ar. Dizia que o ar estava com cheiro de lembrança. – “A gente não vê quando o vento se acaba...” Estava no quintal, vestidinha de amarelo. O que falava, às vezes era comum, a gente é que ouvia exagerado: - “Alturas de urubuir...” Não, dissera só: - “... altura de urubu não ir.” O dedinho chegava quase no céu. Lembrou-se de: - “Jabuticaba de vem-mever...” Suspirava, depois: - “Eu quero ir para lá.” – Aonde? – “Não sei” Aí, observou: - “O passarinho desapareceu de cantar...” De fato, o passarinho tinha estado cantando, e, no escorregar do tempo, eu pensava que não estivesse ouvindo; agora, ele se interrompera. Eu disse: - “A Avezinha.” De por diante, Nhinhinha passou a chamar o sabiá de “Senhora Vizinha...” E tinha respostas mais longas: - “E eu? Tou fazendo saudade.” Outra hora falava-se de parentes já mortos, ela riu: - “Vou visitar eles...” Ralhei, dei conselhos, disse que ela estava com a lua. Olhou-me, zombaz, seus olhos muito perspectivos: - “Ele te xurugou?” Nunca mais vi Nhinhinha. (...)
