Read the draft of Arthur's personal narrative. I knew from the very beginning that I had made a mistake. I never should have agreed to go skling. I stared at the cable stretching from
tower to tower up the steep mountainside, towing a long line of metal chairlifts toward the terminal at the top. The flimsy chairs suspended from
the cable swayed ominously above the treetops, making me think of some of the carnival rides that I carefully avoid. When it was my turn, I slid
onto the Icy seat of the lift, clutched the safety bar, and then closed my eyes, trying to ignore the fact that the ground was falling away beneath me.
After a few frozen moments, I heard my little brother calling to me, reminding me to look up at the mountaintop instead of down at the distant, Icy
slopes. Accordingly, I opened my eyes, resisted staring at the skiers and snowboarders hurtling down the mountainside, and glued my gaze to the
platform at the top of the lift. Gradually it grew closer and I was comforted by its stability-an Island in a sea of loud sounds, constant motion, and
fearful heights. Every fifteen seconds one of the skiers ahead of me disembarked there.
Which concluding sentence best accomplishes Arthur's goal of maintaining his current organization?
O 1. At last, I too reached the security of that island,
2. Quite soon, I watched the other skiers on that Island,
3. Immediately, i sensed the platform beneath my ski boots,
O 4. Initially, I jumped from the chair to the safety of the platform.
