What is meant by public finance?

Public finance is the sub-area of the economy that deals with issues related to collective or governmental activities, and the administration and organization of these activities. Public finances are often divided into questions about what the government or collective organizations should do or actually do, and questions about how these activities should be paid for through all kinds of taxes.
