Ihave a senior that comes to my senior citizens center where i work and she doesn’t speak any english. i’ve taught her a few words here and there and learned a few but i can’t figure out what this means.

Having characters like this, 福 (fu, good fortune, luck) around you as either decorations, or clothing/jewelry is very common in Chinese culture and is thought to bring good luck, happiness, and whatever else the characters are associated with :)!
