The general who directed the project responsible for the "Fat Man" graduated from United States Military Academy of West Point in the year 1918. The name of the general was Leslie Richard Groves Jr. He was born on 17th of August in the year 1896 and died on 13th of July in the year 1970. 

In paragraph 47, it says “moments like these make a pioneering flight anything but dull” i’d say he’s optimistic and determined? ? and in 48, it describes how i’m assuming people he looks up to walked the same path so maybe he’s honored to be on the journey ? sorry if i’m wrong.
