Social problems in the united states such as poverty and gender inequality are more serious in poorer countries.
America is a relatively rich country, which means that it can allocate funds and time in order to fight social problems such as poverty and gender inequality. However, in poorer countries that is not the case - the majority of people are poor there anyway so it would be difficult to cater to everybody's needs, let alone think about gender equality.
