Media often display a certain characteristic as a standard of beauty and discarded others for not conforming for their standards. They also did the same for Gender roles, which in the long run will affect how we as society perceive things in general.
Several example of this would be Only using certain body types to promote their advertising, Only use good looking actor/actress to in their film which make people subconsciously believe that they're a role model that must be followed regardless on how they achieve their good looks, etc.

The Media plays an important role in influencing both beauty and gender roles in the society. This is achievable because of the massive reach of the different forms of media.

Beauty is a term which is relative to individual opinion. However, this perception of beauty is guided by four main factors which include

Gender roles are relative to different societies. In some societies such as African Societies, the bulk of the domestic roles in a family is vested on the shoulders of a woman. However, in European and American societies, it is believed that both gender are equal and as such, domestic functions can be shared equally.

The media has played a huge role in bringing this to awareness. Some Africans now tend to copy some of these believes from Western countries.

Except for naturally occurring roles such as Child birth for women, the media has placed both the male and the female gender on equal pedestal. This trend has been most accomplished since the late twentieth century.
