What are the various elements that need to be in place if social movements are to succeed?

According to Tilly, there are three elements in social movements: campaigns, repertoire and WUNC displays. Campaigns refer to mass efforts that combines claims of the target authority. Repertoires are the various forms of political action. Lastly, WUNC displays stands for Worthiness, Unity, Numbers, and Commitments.

high personal debt, that ended up with many bankrupt investors. falling stock price as everybody was getting rid of the stocks, many because they could not meet the amounts of money required by the margins that backed their investments.
