Georgia elected Herman Talmadge again as Governor following the 1965 Voting Rights Act, and he would go on to nullify the entire law.
Georgia elected Ellis Arnall as Governor who did little to eliminate Jim Crow laws in Georgia because the State House and Senate didn't support him.
Georgia elected segregationist Lester Maddox who continued to fight the removal of Jim Crow laws for years after the Civil Rights Act was passed.
