How were the cultures that Alexander conquered different after his death?

Alexander's generals (known as the Diadochi) divided his conquered provinces amongst themselves when he died in 323 B.C. The Seleucids of Syria and Persia, the Ptolemies of Egypt, and the Antigonids of Greece and Macedonia were soon formed from the shards of the Alexandrian empire.
