The two major rivers in India are the Ganges and the Indus. On a map, they look like mirror images. They both flow from the central Indian Himalayas. The Indus flows west. The Ganges flows east. They both empty into the sea near the top of India’s arrowhead-shaped land. But the Indus and the Ganges are very different rivers. The Indus flows mostly through dry land in modern Pakistan. The Ganges flows through much lower, warmer, and humid places in India and today’s Bangladesh. Heavy monsoon rains flood the Ganges River Valley. The Indus River gets most of its water from Himalayan snows.

Choose either the Ganges region or Indus region to create a settlement. Explain in four to five sentences why you chose the region. Make sure to include details from the activities.
