In this project, you will use a graphic organizer to compare and contrast the technological changes caused by the Industrial Revolution with those currently being caused by the technological revolution today (such as computers, smartphonese, Internet, etc.). You will also list the effects those changes have had on society. Use what you have learned in this unit to complete the sections about the Industrial Revolution.

Then, you will conduct Internet research to find one source about today's technological revolution, so that you are able to use that information to complete the other half of the graphic organizer. Using the Internet (or your local library, if you prefer), find one source about today's technological revolution. You might look for newspaper or magazine articles, or editorial pieces published about the topic.

Take notes on the causes and effects that the technological revolution has had on society.

As you are reading your source, anytime you come across an unknown word, pause for a moment. Use one or more of the above reference sources to help you understand the word's meaning. Keep a list of the words and their definitions; you will turn in this list later. Also, feel free to print out your source if possible. This way, you are able to highlight important ideas or take notes if needed. This is a close reading strategy that can help you organize the key points of a text.
