Explain the reasons why many people came to america in the 1600 and 1700's

Many people came to the Americas in the 16th and 17th century because they wanted to establish colonies and wanted more religious freedom.

The Northern colonies were frequently settled by people escaping religious persecution in Europe. In the South, economic interests tended to prevail, with most colonies populated by profit seekers.
