Before You Begin
You learned about the different forms of government and different forms of citizen participation in India, China, and Japan. Think about these forms of government and participation, and be prepared to compare the information you learned.

Think about the word claim, it has a connotation that suggests it may not be true. Claims need to be backed up by facts, otherwise a claim just becomes an opinion.

As you research information, you will run across technical terms and names your peers may not know. Make sure you define unknown terms for your audience. With some of the terms you may even need to define it for yourself. Each area of study has words specific to it, and in history there are terms specific to each region and culture of the world. Language is an important reflection of culture and history, so be sure to include specific terms.

Directions
Using the information you learned in the lessons and additional research, create a presentation comparing and contrasting three countries in Asia. Examine the form of leadership and the role of the citizen in terms of voting rights and personal freedoms.

When you compare, show all of the things that are the same. Contrasts will show all of the things that are different. Often, the best way to show this information is by creating a graphic organizer, or chart. You may use images, charts, and sound in your presentation.

Prompt
Create a presentation comparing and contrasting the Republic of India, the communist state of the People’s Republic of China, and the constitutional monarchy of Japan. Compare and contrast the form of leadership and the role of the citizen in terms of voting rights and personal freedoms. Be sure to include the forms of leadership, voting rights, and personal freedoms of the citizens of each country. The final part of your presentation will include a discussion of your opinion of which government is the most effective and productive for an up-and-coming developing nation. Support your opinion with information you learned, and be sure to cite your sources.

Be prepared to show your graphics in a slide show or digital presentation, and to discuss the ideas you found with your peers.
