Indeed, federalism increases public participation in politics, as it grants political representation to the different territorial subdivisions of a given nation, both in the local order and in the state order.

Thus, given that the greater the representation, the greater the number of public officials are needed, and also, since there is a much stronger local representation, the citizens can turn to the local representatives for the solution of their problems.

Therefore, it is easier for citizens to both access direct political participation and public officials, as well as go to government representations close to their center of life.
