There are two ways that early psychological research was biased: it was gender and racially biased.

Many early psychological research only uses white, middle-class, males as their research subject, which of course causes a problem when the conclusion of the research is used for generalization to an entire population of people; who have different socioeconomic background as well as racial and gender ones. One of the prominent theories that was guilty of these biases was Kohlberg’s moral development theory.
