Since 1835, every legal adult citizen has the right to vote in official election, and every person in America has the opportunity to own land. The system of government, within the first 20 years, had switched from confederate to a federal government. Tocqueville had claimed that the pull of American democracy was dependent on the values of money-- it was "tyranny of the majority". Events that would support that claim would be Americans trading away their liberties, gun control, and single payer health care.
