How were lanterns spread across the world?

Lanterns in the past were used for light rather than decoration purpose. Lnterns were used with wick in oil and cande holders. Before the invention of light, people either use lanterns and candles.

Many travellers used lanterns for lightning purpose and during their journey lantern got spread across the world.
