Positive reinforcement in operant conditioning has to do with giving a subject (humans or animals) a favorable stimulus or a reward when a desirable or constructive action is carried out. Therefore, the subject associates that reward and the action,  and tend to carry out that action more.

For example, a mother rewarding her daughter with a piece of chocolate for cleaning up her room.
