Explain influential ethical theories and/or principles applied in today's global era - Utilitarian Theory and Kant's Ethics of Duty.

Utilitarian and Kant ethics were important work in philosophy. Kant theory was based on deontological aspect on the other hand Utilitarian based on teleological aspects.

Utilitarian theory comes under normative ethics. This is called a tradition that emerged in late 18th and 19th century. According to English philosopher and the economists Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill , an action can be wrong or right related to the promotion or demotion of happiness. Utilitarianism theory is different from other ethical theories. It is the answer of some practical questions. For example what a person ought to do?.

On the other hand Kant theory was opposite to the Utilitarianism theory. Kant believed that their are certain actions that are prohibited in the society whether these actions brings more happiness if these actions are not allowed in society these actions are wrong. He believed that there are some actions that are supreme in morality. Kant implied this theory as Categorical Imperative.
