No economic or political system is perfect, all of them have flaws. They tend to be the best system, suited to that place and time, taking into account culture, economic power, international relations, and others. US capitalism, for example, goes in the individual independence direction in its doctrine. However, that leaves a social gap where people with social or physical disadvantages suffer greatly. Other countries have a similar system with better well-fare politics, whereas the US has not. However, the US has a lighter tax policy than many capitalistic countries, and that is seen as an advantage in many ways. We could talk about many points but the bottom line is the same; no system is perfect, but it tries to be, at least in theory.
