Hip hop is a type of music that developed in the United States, mainly among African American and Latino communities. The music is often associated with the Bronx borough of New York City. Hip hop developed not only as a type of music, but also as a subculture withe particular characteristics, such as their rapping, break dancing and graffiti writing. Hip hop can be seen as an example of how globalization can affect the formation of subcultures or norms in the world. While hip hop started in New York City, it has now become an international form of art and expression that is popular all over the world.
