People interested in losing weight have started drinking diet sodas (e. g., Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi) instead of drinking regular sodas (e. g., Regular Coke, and Regular Pepsi). They do so because diet sodas have less calories than regular sodas. As such, the switch is viewed as a way to limit calorie intake a proven way to lose weight. Some argue that use of diet sodas instead of regular sodas is not a good way to lose weight. They point to preliminary research suggesting that ingredients in diet sodas may actually make people eat more. As such, the weight loss benefits of diet sodas are short-lived, and may actually result in people gaining weight in the long run. Which of the following statements, if true, would most strengthen the above argument?

a. Cutting the amount of regular sodas someone drinks by half results in greater weight loss than just switching to drinking diet sodas.
b. Limiting calorie intake as an approach for losing weight is easier to maintain in the long run.
c. People favor the taste of diet sodas compared to regular sodas.
