Winston is sleeping when his mother calls his name. He does not respond. She calls his name louder, telling him it is time to get up and get ready for school. Even when she gets close to the bed, says his name, and puts her hand on his shoulder, he does not wake up. It is likely that he is in the stage of sleep.

Explanation: Rem sleep is the stages of sleep where you dream, often times Rem increases brain function but leave the body hindered and slightly unresponsive especially in later stages, this is most likely caused by Winston staying up late the night before and causing his brain to require more Rem sleep. Another side effect of this may be that any injuries sustained to the body that day may have a slowed healing progress because the body has less NREM sleep in which it repairs damaged tissues and replaces dead cells
