Taking into account the process of synaptic pruning the human brain assumes a position towards the need. Synaptic pruning is a process that refers to the development of the human brain since the first years of life until the adulthood, it allows to eliminate the extra synapses, which are the encouraged ones of transmitting electric neural information.  

On the other side it is also possible to talk about a second adaptation process that occurs in the development of the human brain which is the proliferation. This is a process that occurs after the neural tube structure has been completed in the childhood, the body continuous with the production of neurons and creates a new zone called the marginal zone.

That is why kids, have more neural connections than adults, nevertheless this number starts decreasing with a process called apoptosis that is the encouraged one of eliminating cells through the rest of the life.
