1. How are fire scenes different than regular crime scenes for investigators?Fire scenes are entirely different than the regular crime scenes because the evidence of a fire scene was most likely ruined or burned to ashes, the individual who did the crime is not usually present in the crime scene. This makes it a little harder to piece together the suspect and convict someone of their crimes

2. What is the blast effect?The blast effect is what happens when arush o± gasses from the main point of the bomb blow outward over 7000 miles per hour. This is related to the second law of Newton which states the acceleration of the object will depend on the force that acts on it.

3. What are the two types of high explosives?Two types of high explosives are both primary and secondary. The very difference of it all is that primary explosives can be easily detonated and extremely sensitive to heat and/or friction. The secondary explosives are like dynamite which are explosives.

4. What is a substrate control?  Substrate control is a sample that has been uncontaminated by a flammable substance. It will allow the forensic scientists to compare between two examples to see whether the liquid would be there at the time.

5. How is the evidence from a fire scene collected?  What should be avoided? Evidence from these scenes should be collected by placing them into air-tight bins or containers to help prevent from the evaporation of flammable substances. The glass cases and paint cans would be great because of their airtight lids. Avoid the use of plastic bags because they will produce harmful gases when mixed with these.

6. Critical Thinking Questions 1. What do you think would be the most challenging part of investigating a fire or explosion crime scene? Why?The most challenging aspect would be collecting the evidence on these types of scenes. This is due to the fact that there could be no evidence left. The evidence over time will degrade so forensic scientists will have to rush and be hasty about the samples when collecting them.

7.-Do you think search warrants should be required for fire scenes? why or why not?

No. I do't think they are necessary because I think it is the police's duty to investigate how fire started in a place wheter or not people in the house allow investigators to do that.

8. Do you think more countries should adopt the practice of putting color coded chips in explosive materials? why or why not?

Yes, Countries should adopt this practice because I think it is a fantastic idea so police can trace these chips in order to know if the fire was provoked or accidental.

9. why do you think crime scenes involving homemade bombs have increased?

Because people burn their property to ask for money of the insurance policy.

10. Why do you think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes to those involving fire and explosions?

Because fire destroys evidence so it is difficult to know if fires are intentional or accidents.

11 .What benefits or challenges are there because of these different procedures?

The challenges are immense because when there is no evidence it is harder to find and convict criminals but there are great benefits because science is investigating and each time we have new breakthroughs about how fire works.
