Poprawka 22 stanowi, że żadna osoba wybrana na prezydenta i żadna osoba, która sprawuje urząd prezydenta przez więcej niż dwa lata, nie może zostać wybrana więcej niż jeden raz. Nie ma znaczenia, czy te dwa terminy są następujące po sobie.
