A study from the University of Texas Houston School of Public health in the year 2000, concluded that African American couples are more 2 to 3 times more likely to experience any form of domestic violence in comparison to white couples. An additional factor that contributes to violence in couples is the addiction to alcohol in one of the members of the household. According to the study, this factor is more influential on African American couples than on white couples.
