Quid pro quo harassment in the workplace occurs when the manager or someone at the managerial level hints or blatantly demand sexual favor in return for work-related incentives such as salary increase or promotion.

It can also occur if the authority figure threatens to fire or reprimand the subordinate in exchange for sexual favors. Furthermore, it can also extend to job applicants where the hiring managers require sexual favors in exchange for the job offer. If the hiring decision was solely based on sexual advances then it is deemed a quid pro quo harassment.
