Describe education and literacy in latin america

Education and illiteracy still remains a big challenge in Latin America despite the region’s economic growth. This limits the opportunity of most of the people to lift themselves from poverty as this can only be accomplished through the acquisition of skills and knowledge. However, increasing numbers of children are enrolling in the first grade and the quality of education has increased over time.

Literacy and education levels are rising throughout Latin America, and most countries have literacy rates above 90%. School attendance is increasing, too. However, access to education in rural areas continues to be a problem.
