This part of the novel is from the chapters 12 and 13. The events show how Amir becomes a man. He marries and makes love for the first time. He loses Baba and feels the real responsibility. He also publishes his first novel. In the light of all these events, Amir experiences both joy and pain. In order to become an adult, he also has to be able to stop being depended on Baba. Actually, Baba was trying to make Amir what he was doing in those events: he was preparing Amir how to become a man. The transition of Amir is shown at the beginning of the chapter him being as a boy living in his father’s house. At the end, he is a man with a wife with his own house.
