 Not necessarily, but most likely that subgroup would be different. The mean for the NHS group would be higher because the qualifications for membership include a higher than average grade-point, so they tend to be more academically inclined, and will get higher scores on the SAT.

Explanation: It is possible that this is not the case. The math test is only part of the SAT test. The NHS members may have higher overall grade-point averages, but many may be no more proficient in math than the other  college-bound seniors who took the test.
