If a car stops suddenly, seat belts help stop the motion of the people in the car. Seat belts in cars are usually 47 mm wide. A team of engineers is designing a car seat to hold a small child. They decide that the straps should be only 38 mm wide. Why do the straps in the car seat not need to be 47 mm wide?.
