DS One geographic factor that influences climate is latitude , or the distance north and south
of the equator. Latitude is measured in degrees and divides the globe into three main
climatic regions: tropical, temperate and polar. The tropical zone is the region closest to
the equator; think of it as a belt that extends from the Tropic of Cancer (23.5° north of the
equator) to the Tropic of Capricorn (23.5° south of the equator). The tropical zone receives
direct sunlight all year round, so its climate is sunny and hot. The polar zones are the
regions that surround the North and South Poles, extending from the poles to 60° north and
60° south of the equator. They receive little direct sunlight and have a frigid climate. In
between the tropical and polar zones are the temperate zones. These regions have more
moderate climates that vary with the seasons.

Based on the passage, which of the following is correct?
A There is only one polar zone on Earth.
B The sun reaches all areas of Earth equally.
C The polar zone extends to the Tropic of Capricorn.

Two horizontal plates with infinite length and width are separated by a distance h in the z direction. the bottom plate is moving at a velocity u. the incompressible fluid trapped between the plates is moving in the positive x-direction with the bottom plate. align gravity with positive z. assume that the flow is fully-developed and laminar. if the systems operates at steady state and the pressure gradient in x-direction can be ignored, do the following: 1. sketch your system 2. identify the coordinate system to be used. 3. show your coordinates and origin point on the sketch. list all your assumptions. 5. apply the continuity equation to your system. nts of navier stokes equations of choice to your system 7. solve the resulting differential equation to obtain the velocity profile within the system make sure to list your boundary conditions. check units of velocity 8. describe the velocity profile you obtain using engineering terminology. sketch that on the same sketch you provided in (1). 9. obtain the equation that describes the volumetric flow rate in the system. check the units.

The force acting on a beam was measured under the same operating conditions and a sample of 5 data points was collected. this process was repeated by 3 observers. the pooled standard deviations of these 3 data sets was 1.21. determine the true mean force using all pooled data (with a 95% probability). the result should look like this: true mean = mean +/- margin of error
