You accidentally dropped a 3.5 kg glass platter.
Before it hit the floor, the motion was entirely
in the vertical direction. When it hit the floor,
it broke into three pieces and they all moved
out in the plane of the floor. Imagine a coor-
dinate system on the floor. Piece 1 had a
mass of 1.3 kg and it moved off with a velocity
of 1.8 m/s at an angle of 52˚ counterclockwise
from the positive x axis. Piece 2 with a mass
of 1.2 kg moved off with a velocity of 2.5 m/s
at an angle of 61˚ clockwise from the negative
x axis. Find the mass and the velocity of
piece 3.

Edward tolman explained the results of his study by theorizing that the rats were learning about the maze during every trial but they a. were agitated because other groups were getting reinforcement b. could not remember how to demonstrate it without reinforcement c. were not motivated to demonstrate it without reinforcement d. seemed to be too lazy to actually work without reinforcement

At a certain instant after jumping from the airplane a, a skydiver b is in the position shown and has reached a terminal (constant) speed vb = 52 m/s. the airplane has the same constant speed va = 52 m/s, and after a period of level flight is just beginning to follow the circular path shown of radius ρa = 2330 m. (a) determine the velocity and acceleration of the airplane relative to the skydiver. (b) determine the time rate of change of the speed vr of the airplane and the radius of curvature ρr of its path, both as observed by the nonrotating skydiver.
