A Coast Guard ship is traveling at a constant velocity of 3.93 m/s, due east, relative to the water. On his radar screen the navigator detects an object that is moving at a constant velocity. The object is located at a distance of 3230 m with respect to the ship, in a direction 35.0 ° south of east. Six minutes later, he notes that the object's position relative to the ship has changed to 753 m, 50.0 ° south of west. What are (a) the magnitude and (b) direction of the velocity of the object relative to the water? Express the direction as an angle with respect to due west.

Estimate the kinetic energy of mars with respect to the sun as the sum of two terms, that due to its daily rotation about its axis, and that due to its yearly revolution about the sun. (assume mars is a uniform sphere with mass = 6.4×10 to the power of 23 kg, radius = 3.4×10 to the power of 6 m, rotation period = 24.7 hours, orbital period = 686 days and is 2.3×10 to the power of 8 km from the sun.)
