What does the new moon and full moon have to do with spring tides? The spring tides are created with the new moon and first quarter.
These phases indicate that the Earth, Moon and Sun are aligned combining the Moon's and Sun's gravity on Earth's tides.
The phases of the moon have nothing to do with tides.
The spring tides are produced during the first quarter and third quarter phases of the Moon.
