An Erlenmeyer flask, also known as a conical flask is a titration flask which has a conical body, flat bottom, and round neck. It is used for mixing, titrations, preparation of microbial cultures, for recrystallization, and for supporting filter funnels.
Volumetric flasks are the graduated flasks having markings for the different volumes. They are calibrated precisely, for a definite amount of liquid that can be contained in it at a particular temperature. They are used in analytical and food chemistry, and for determining specific gravity.
Filter flasks are also called as vacuum, suction or Buchner flasks. They are thick-walled and have a short glass tube. The thick-wall enables it to withstand the high pressures of the vacuum applied to filter substances like food samples, microbial samples, antibiotic disks etc.
