Aaron and Merida are two students who attend Bryant & Stratton College. Their instructor asked them to identify three problems that could exist in different community types: academic, professional, and personal. They were also asked to brainstorm solutions for each of the problems. Your job is to review each of the problems and then use critical thinking to analyze which solution you feel is best for each scenario. Feel encouraged to look back on previous lectures or use your own experiences to help you decide and explain how or why the solution you chose could be the best solution. Academic Problem In 150 words or more, use critical thinking skills to state the solution you chose, explain why the solution you chose is best, and describe how it could solve the academic problem effectively compared to the other options. Answers should be in your own words. Problem: Choosing a major Solutions: • Choose the major that gets a job with the highest salary • Choose the major that is most interesting • Choose the major that seems to be the easiest program Response: Workplace Problem In 150 words or more, use critical thinking skills to state the solution you chose, explain why the solution you chose is best, and describe how it could solve the workplace problem effectively compared to the other options. Answers should be in your own words. Problem: Lack of training at work Solutions: • Quit the job and find a new job that provides better employee training • Ask for a meeting with the team leader to discuss the need for more training • Try and find training opportunities outside of work (take classes, sign up for webinars, attend professional conferences) Response: Personal Problem In 150 words or more, use critical thinking skills to state the solution you chose, explain why the solution you chose is best, and describe how it could solve the personal problem effectively compared to the other options.
