12. A solar-thermal power plant (Tonapah, for example) might cost $2B to build and operate over its 20 year lifetime. Assume it generates 100 MW for 8 hours a day; assume it is always sunny during the days:
a) How much must be charged wholesale for generation of this electricity, just to cover that initial cost?
Please compute the cost in $/kW-hr, which is the wholesale consumer cost that is quoted. Note for a
natural gas power plant, this wholesale cost is $0.05/kW-hr, approximately. Make any simplifying econ.
assumptions postulates as are helpful.

Water is siphoned from a large tank and discharges into the atmosphere through a 50-mm diameter tube. the end of the tube is b = 2.6 m below the tank bottom which is a = 6.7 m deep, and viscous effects are negligible. determine the maximum height h over which the water can be siphoned without cavitation occurring. atmospheric pressure is 101.4 kpa, and the water vapor pressure is 1.79 kpa (absolute). report your answer in meters to two decimal places.
